Ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) are revolutionizing the way that Texans meet their health care needs by emphasizing safety and quality in a comfortable and efficient setting. From children to seniors, Texas ASCs perform thousands of surgeries, surgical procedures, and diagnostic services (such as colonoscopies) that only a few decades ago were only performed in a hospital and sometimes led to a lengthy hospital stay. Today, over 70 percent of surgeries in the United States are in the outpatient setting, and one out of five of these is performed at an ASC. Founded in 2003, the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society (TASCS) serves as the voice of the Texas ASC industry.
ASCs are revolutionizing healthcare in Texas through:
- SAFETY & QUALITY: Safety and high–quality healthcare serve as the foundation of ASCS.
- INNOVATION: ASCs exist on the leading-edge of treatments and technology.
- PATIENTS FIRST: ASCs can offer patients flexible hours.
