The Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society combats legislative, regulatory, and other issues at the state level

TASCS provides Texas ASCs with an opportunity to gather together and interact under one roof through a series of meetings held each year in cities all around Texas.  The Annual Conference, Summer Summit, and State of the State Conference all provide Texas ASCs with an opportunity to learn more about the latest industry and public policy developments.

Dr. Peck is a Board certified internist and rheumatologist by training has spoken at numerous events about the future of the ASC industry. He will give his outlook for the industry.

Jaime Capelo will analyze the Texas legislative and regulatory landscape. In addition, he will discuss ways that the ASC industry can make a difference in the political process.

Stuart Miller, Partner at Strasburger & Price
ASCs have witnessed a number of reimbursement payor disputes in the court system. Stuart Miller will discuss tactics that commercial plans are using to reduce reimbursement and give an update on what ASCs are doing to get their proper payments.

2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. Washington & Medicare Update
Kara Marshall & Steve Miller of the ASC Association
A number of issues are impacting ASCs in Washington, including Medicare quality reporting and Medicare’s ASC payment rates. Kara Marshall and Steve Miller will provide an update.

2010 SUMMER SUMMIT

TASCS's second annual Summer Summit will take a look at the latest public policy and industry issues impacting Texas ASCs.  Last year's Houston event attracted over 180 attendees.  Some of the topics included the new Medicare Conditions for Coverage analysis from accreditation bodies and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, a TrailBlazer briefing, infection control training and a briefing by the state's largest commercial health insurance carrier.

2009 STATE OF THE STATE CONFERENCE/ADVOCACY DAY

Over 70 people from ASCs all across Texas attended TASCS's third annual State of the State Conference in Austin, Texas and interacted with state officials regarding data collection, insurance, licensing, and the new workers' compensation rates.  The following day, Texas ASCs visited the Capitol to tell lawmakers about the safety and quality that ASCs are delivering to Texas patients.
