Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) ASC Licensing Rules


Title 25 Chapter 135 contains the Texas Department of State Health Service rules and regulations governing ambulatory surgery centers in Texas. The rules specify the requirements for operations, fire prevention, safety, physical plant and construction requirements for Texas ASCs.

Medicare ASC Regulations


Title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations (42CFR Part 416) contains the rules and regulations governing Medicare certified ambulatory surgery centers.

Texas ASC Licensing Act


The Texas Ambulatory Surgical Center Licensing Act, Health and Safety Code Chapter 243, is the statute requiring all Texas surgery centers to be licensed. This statute relies on Chapter 135 to implement and establish minimum standards for Texas ASCs.

Medicare ASC Approved Procedures List


The Medicare Approved ASC Procedures list Excel file includes all outpatient surgeries that Medicare has approved to be performed in an ambulatory surgical center. The file also has a tab with the list of procedures that Medicare will not pay for in an ASC.
