Texas Health Surgery Center Cleburne's Landon Welch is now part of the Texas ASC Society's board!

Membership Monday Landon Welch

The Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center is proud to introduce a new board member, Landon Welch, MHA, LNFA.

Welch started his career as a patient transporter at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas, and after graduate school, he became a licensed nursing home administrator in Houston, Texas. In 2019, he transitioned to the ambulatory setting and currently works with SCA Health, where he is the CEO of Texas Health Surgery Center Cleburne.

Welch has been a guest lecturer at the University of Texas at Dallas Naveen Jindal School of Management and Brigham Young University Marriott School of Business, co-lectured at the American College of Healthcare Executives’ conference, and serves on several SCA Health enterprise committees.

Outside of work, Welch enjoys visiting national parks with his wife and three children and loves to play pickleball.

Texas Health Surgery Center Cleburne – the only multi-specialty surgery center in Cleburne – opened in 2007. The majority of its staff members have been with SCA Health for years and are local to the community…a community in which the team is very involved, as it plans and participates in a yearly service project and sponsors local events.

The center boasts 9 different specialties and, in April 2024, opened a retina program that includes new DORC technology, making it the only place to offer this in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Its policy priorities include increasing access and advocating for more physician joint ventures with health systems, and when it comes to the current payer landscape, Welch and his team believe there is lots of opportunity. “As ASCs take on higher acuity cases, payer alignment is essential,” he shared. “ASCs should emphasize high quality and cost effectiveness.”

Looking at the ambulatory surgery center industry as a whole, Welch sees challenges such as competing with HOPDs and recruiting/retaining physicians, but he also sees many more opportunities, including robotic and cardiovascular procedures shifting to the ASC landscape.

We are excited to welcome him to TASCS!
