TASCS and THCIC Tour Cedar Park Surgery Center

The Texas ASC Society was pleased to show THCIC reps an ambulatory surgery center just outside of Austin, Texas.

Last week, the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society (TASCS) toured Cedar Park Surgery Center with Texas Health Care Information Collection (THCIC) representatives: Director Tarik Brown and Training Specialist Tiffany Overton.

Both Brown and Overton have joined TASCS in the past for presentations to members—most recently in Galveston at the 2024 TASCS Annual Conference—and they were thrilled to spend time going through an ASC and learning more about the industry.

Cedar Park Surgery Center is a multispecialty facility offering general surgery, endoscopy, gastroenterology, orthopedics, gynecology, urology, podiatry, and pain management. It opened in 2011, and last year, the team performed over 5,600 cases.

Administrator Misty Shaw led the tour, joined by Cullen Scott, Director of Operations at SCA Health, and Erica Stick, VP of External Affairs for UnitedHealth Group

The first thing patients see when they check in is a wall filled with plaques honoring staff members’ years of service. This feature immediately and beautifully illustrates the center’s goal and atmosphere; employees are like a family, welcoming everyone in with open arms.

As we made our way through the center, we had the pleasure of meeting some of the staff, and they all said the same thing…that they love working at an ASC!

Ambulatory surgery centers truly are one-of-a-kind healthcare settings, and TASCS always enjoys getting to provide a behind-the-scenes look. Thank you to THCIC, SCA, and UnitedHealth Group for joining us, and thank you, Cedar Park Surgery Center, for opening your doors to us!
