Membership Monday: HST Pathways

Robert Marinich is the head of sales at HST Pathways and has been working there for almost 10 years. During this time, he has fallen in love with the job and feels blessed to wake up every day, getting to help the healthcare industry with efficiency, cost-savings and so much more. “We care less about the politics and more about the client,” Marinich said. “And this client-first mentality is key to success.”

HST Pathways offers technological solutions and innovations for ambulatory surgery centers through several programs: case coordination, practice management and electronic health records. These programs work in tandem to create the ultimate experience for patient caregivers, and these three services bundled together computerize every step of the process to make for a more efficient facility that allows caregivers to spend more time with the patients and less time charting.

For Marinich, the company’s biggest accomplishment is the 97% client retention. “It’s probably the greatest satisfaction and reward that we can have in this space because it tells us that we're doing the right thing.”

While some client-vendor relationships are distant in nature, Marinich said HST Pathways truly works to create a partnership with their clients that includes listening and working together to build a successful system for the facility. In the last version of their software, 234 updates alone came from client feedback. “It’s people problem-solving rather than talking about the problems,” he said. By working to fix these issues, Marinich and HST Pathways are able to help over 1,300 clients provide quality patient care while saving money.

One specific example Marinich spoke to was Emerald Coast Surgery Center in Walton Beach, Florida. At the time, the center had the practice management system in place and was about to absorb a military facility that would essentially increase their caseload to 700. During this merger, the center added HST Pathways’ eChart and, because of the success of the system, the facility only had to hire one additional staff member, despite the significant caseload increase.

HST Pathways has experienced massive growth over the last 18 months and continues to be a frontrunner in the healthcare industry for all software needs. Marinich said the company wants to continue to evolve and provide every piece of the process so clients do not have to deal with multiple vendors and can instead focus on the clinical mission: giving patients the best quality care.

“Nobody’s stepping up like we are,” Marinich said. “We're making an investment not just in our clients but in the industry as a whole.”
