Membership Monday: Chris Kralik

Welcome, Chris Kralik of the Digestive Health Center of Plano and Allen, to the TASCS Board!

The Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society is excited to welcome Chris Kralik, BSN, RN, CGRN to our board! You may remember Kralik from last year’s Membership Monday on one of his centers or as a speaker at this year’s Annual Conference.

Kralik currently works as the center administrator for the Digestive Health Center of Plano and the Digestive Health Center of Allen. He became a registered nurse over fifteen years ago and started his career in hospitality emergency departments. After nine years, he moved over to hospital endoscopy. During his time in hospitals, his interest in ambulatory surgery centers grew. He found that exploring careers in the ASC space could help him meet his career goals and priorities. Since 2020, he has held two different leadership positions at endoscopy ASCs, starting as a director and moving into an administrator role for not just one but two facilities!

These two facilities prioritize “closing the gap between ASC and HOPD/hospital reimbursements,” says Kralik. Since they function as a single-specialty ASC, they “are able to offer a specialized, GI patient-centric experience that is safe, efficient, and cost-effective.”

It is no secret that one of the biggest issues facing ACSs and many other businesses today is staffing shortages. Nonetheless, Kralik looks to the future with optimism. “While the past few years have been challenging with the pandemic, staffing shortages, and increasing operational costs, we remain positive. Despite these challenges, we have continued to grow and foresee this trend to continue in the future.” The growth Kralik alludes to is seen in the opening of their Allen location, which began operations in January of 2021, in order to meet growing patient needs.

We welcome Kralik to the board and urge you to be on the lookout for future Membership Monday posts!
