5 Reasons To Attend The Texas ASC Society's Capitol Day

This year marks the 89th legislative session in Texas. Each year, thousands of bills are filed, and a significant portion of these affect healthcare. On Tuesday, February 25, the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society (TASCS) will lead members to the Capitol to discuss key topics and bills with legislators.

There are several reasons why you should join us for Capitol Day 2025…

ONE. There are bills that will directly impact the ambulatory surgery center industry, including those focused on surgical smoke, cash prices, facility fees, price transparency, workplace violence, prior authorization, network adequacy, non-compete contracts, and private equity. You can have critical conversations with decision-makers, explaining how these matters will play into what you and your center do for patients in Texas.

TWO. There are hundreds of ASCs in Texas, and you can represent them all at Capitol Day. The work you do will help promote the industry and protect patients’ access to care.

THREE. Each year, TASCS hosts this special day, bringing members together from across the state. There is a webinar the week prior that reviews talking points, there are scheduled legislative meetings throughout the actual event, and afterwards, everyone comes together to share wins and celebrate the progress being made for the industry.

FOUR. Last year, TASCS and its lobby team, Congress Avenue Partners, tracked around 300 bills, and on Capitol Day 2023, efforts included meeting with legislators/staff in more than 30 offices and being the only organization willing to testify in opposition to a significant piece of legislation. Read details on last year’s success here, and think about what a difference you can make this year.

FIVE. Finally, remember that registration is free! You can come to Austin, Texas, network with peers, take in the city, and engage in meaningful discussions highlighting how ASC advancements are vital for affordable, high-quality healthcare in Texas.

This is an important time for our state, and the continued success of ASCs is dependent on you and your efforts. If you don’t come represent your industry and share the good work that your ASC does for patients…Who will?

We hope that you will join us, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
