While we can’t believe it’s already December, we wanted to take this moment to reflect on another successful year for the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society (TASCS).
In February 2025, TASCS held its 2nd Annual Survey Readiness Workshop, providing insider tips from accreditation organizations, and its advocacy day at the Texas Capitol. Members had a full day of meetings with legislators, discussing the high-quality, low-cost procedures centers offer to patients, and February 25 was officially recognized as Ambulatory Surgery Center Awareness Day.
A TASCS case study was released early this year, in order to provide details on the value of a membership with our association. It can be read here, and if you’re not a member, we urge you to join today!
On April 1, Susan Cheek represented us during a Senate Committee on Health and Human Services hearing, and in May, Adam Hornback testified before the House Committee on Public Health, in regards to SB 331. We always appreciate when members step up and advocate for the ASC industry!
Of course, June brought about our annual conference. More than 125 ambulatory surgery center administrators, nurses, physicians, and leaders
joined us in Irving to discuss regulatory updates, accreditation, leadership, supply chains, infection control, and beyond.
We welcomed new members in 2025, including The Laser Surgery Center and Terminal Cleaning Services, and you can learn more about them by checking out their Membership Monday blog posts.
Hornback welcomed State Representative Rhetta Andrews Bowers' staff to tour North Texas Team Care Surgery Center, and then he—along with TASCS Executive Director Krista DuRapau—was able to tour Texas Vision & Laser Center, Bladder & Bowel Institute, and Texas Health Spine Surgery Center Rockwall.
The society hosted its annual Infection Control Seminar in September, allowing ASC administrators, directors of nursing, and infection control
specialists to gather for a day of learning the newest updates and guidelines regarding infection prevention.
DuRapau participated in the 2025 Multi-State Virtual ASC Conference, hosted by The ASC Podcast with John Goehle. Texas was one of the six states to participate in the State Association Panel Discussion, which focused on top issues throughout the country and emerging state issues.
Through it all, TASCS shared industry news, awareness dates, regulatory/legislative updates, and other important pieces of information through newsletters, blog posts, networking events, social media posts, and educational events. We are proud to be the only organization dedicated to the representation of ambulatory surgery centers in Texas, and we couldn’t do it without YOU.
Thank you to everyone for helping to make this year a success, and we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for 2026…Stay Tuned + Happy Holidays!
