A Letter From Your TASCS President, Adam Hornback
I hope everyone is having a great 2026. Last year, I know we were all busy with our centers, running wild to help patients get their procedures done before the fourth quarter, and then the holidays were here and gone. January started off at a fast pace, and the recent ice storms really didn’t help. I sympathize with everyone who had center closures and damage from the ice and freezing temperatures. I can tell you firsthand it affected me and my center. Hopefully that is the last of the bad weather for Texas, and we’ll just have to get prepared for the heat that inevitably comes in the summer.
I wanted to give you a few quick updates, outlines, and notes about what the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society (TASCS) has been doing for members.
Over the fall, the TASCS board met multiple times to discuss challenges ASCs face and ways to improve processes through the Texas Sunset Advisory Commission. As you all know, both the Texas Department of State Health Services and Texas Health and Human Services are currently under Sunset review. Our board will meet with them in the coming weeks to make suggestions for efficiency improvements. If you have any thoughts, please send them over!
Since our legislature is not in session this year, you will see TASCS out and about at more centers and hosting more tours. We have a few tours coming up this month and next, and if you are interested in having a center tour, reach out and let us know.
Actually, if you have ANYTHING you want to share, reach out and let us know! We love promoting our centers, admins, physicians, staff, vendors, and even open job positions; we are happy to help promote it all for great exposure for the ASC industry.
One new thing you might have seen already this year is our physician highlight. If you have a physician you want to feature, send us their information, and we will happily promote them.
I want to recognize a few new ASCs in Texas and introduce them to TASCS and all its benefits: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Brenham and ARC Greenlawn Specialty.
In addition to advocating for the industry and providing education, our society can act as an extension of your center, helping with regulatory issues, operations, and beyond. For instance, in the fall, we had a couple of centers that had been waiting for physician enrollments in Medicaid for over a year. TASCS was able to help connect these facilities with the appropriate state staff, get questions answered, and reconcile any issues. Please know that we are always here for YOU.
A few things to watch for coming up:

I want to thank you for your time, for your membership, and for choosing to work in one of the most rewarding healthcare areas.
If you need anything please feel free to reach out. I’m here to help, our board is here to help, and our community is here to help…with anything at all — just ask!
