Texas ASC Society Reconnects with Texas Workforce Commission

TASCS President Adam Hornback and Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Joe EsparzaLast week, the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society (TASCS) had the pleasure of reconnecting with Texas Workforce Commission Chairman Joe Esparza and welcoming him for a tour of Cedar Park Surgery Center.

During the visit, Chairman Esparza saw firsthand the important role ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) play in Texas’ healthcare system. The tour highlighted how ASCs provide patients with high-quality, efficient care in a convenient and lower-cost setting. It also offered an opportunity to discuss the ways ASCs improve access to surgical care while delivering value to patients, employers, and the broader healthcare system.

Chairman Esparza spent time speaking directly with Cedar Park Surgery Center’s staff. Team members shared their experiences working in an ASC and discussed the professional opportunities, collaborative environment, and patient-focused culture that make ambulatory surgery centers rewarding places to work.

Following the tour, TASCS President Adam Hornback and Cedar Park Surgery Center Administrator Misty Shaw joined Chairman Esparza as guests on his podcast. Their conversation explored the value ASCs bring to Texas communities, the important contributions of the ASC workforce, and the need to continue supporting this vital segment of the healthcare industry.

We appreciate Chairman Esparza’s interest in learning more about ambulatory surgery centers and his willingness to hear directly from the professionals who care for patients every day.
